Dedman School of Hospitality / Scotland Internships

Scotland Internships

Students in the Dedman School of Hospitality (DSH) have a tremendous opportunity to intern at world-class hotels/resorts and golf organizations in Scotland. DSH has partnered with renowned resorts such as St. Andrews Links Trust, the Old Course Hotel and Golf Resort, the Fairmont St. Andrews, The Gleneagles Hotel and Turnberry Golf Resort to launch a unique international internship program unlike any hospitality program in the U.S.

Twelve students were placed in six-month internships in 2010, the first year of this special program. In recent email messages from DSH interns working in Scotland, the students rave about their experiences so far:

"I have never met so many genuinely nice and helpful people than I have since being in St.Andrews at the Links Trust. Everyone made me feel at home the second I got here."
- Elizabeth Wade

“What has impressed me most about St Andrews is the immediate sense of belonging I felt towards the town, the Old Course Hotel, and especially towards my flatmates and coworkers. I've had such an amazing first week here and look forward to the next six months.”
- Emily Parker

“I recommend taking this opportunity abroad if given the chance because it will open your eyes to so many different cultures and perspectives of the world. St. Andrews is truly a melting pot where you will meet a lot of great people and see a lot of great things!”
- Katie Posey at The Fairmont St. Andrews

"My favorite thing about working at Gleneagles is the fantastic mix of cultures. There are over 40 nationalities represented here and I'm learning more from these people than I ever thought possible. Its truly been a great experience so far."
- Stephanie Maddox

“Living in Scotland really has taught me a lot in just a few weeks; not just about the culture, but about the world. As the home of golf, I knew I would quickly fall in love. Golfer or not, I highly recommend it for future FSU students. This internship opportunity has become a dream come true.”
- Tyler Reedy at Turnberry Golf Resort
